Βία η ψυχή 

κ’έγκλημα η αγάπη, 

φόνος είν’η ζωή 

κι ελπίδα μια απάτη

που λάμπει 

μέσ’του τυφλού το μάτι.


Κατάρα η χαρά,

βαφτισμένη από αίμα,

ο πόθος κι η λαχτάρα,

του δέους είν’το θρέμμα,

ένα έκτρωμα

στου τρελού το βλέμμα.


Μα διπλό και δίκοπο 

θα’ναι πάντα το μαχαίρι,

νεκρές και μάταιες ευχές

σ’ένα πεφταστέρι.

Μια του κλέφτη, δυο του ψεύτη,

και τη τρίτη – 

κανείς δεν ξέρει.

Violence is the soul,

And love a crime;

Life is but murder,

And hope a lie

That shines

Within the blind man’s eye.


Joy is a curse,

Christened in blood;

Desire and longing

Are born from awe and dread,

A monstrosity

Formed in the madman's gaze.


Yet double-edged and twofold

The blade remains;

Deadful and futile wishes

Cast upon doomed stars.

Once for the thief, twice for the liar,

And the third time—


No one knows.
